- Check your disaster supplies and replace or restock as needed.
- Bring in anything that can be picked up by the wind (bicycles, lawn furniture, trash cans etc.)
- Make sure all trees are well-trimmed away from power lines
- Close windows, doors and hurricane shutters. If you do not have hurricane shutters, close and board up all windows and doors with plywood
- Turn the refrigerator and freezer to the coldest setting to extend the life of your food as long as possible and keep them closed as much as possible
- Fill bathtubs and any extra containers with water for clean-up and toilet flushing
- Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances
- Fill your vehicles fuel tank
- Listen to the radio or TV for information
- Monitor and track the path of hurricane.
